Making a community with people who work their also, is inventing something new. We already invented the wheel, so we don't have to reinvent.

In 1910 they made a "Company Town" called Philipsdorp in Eindhoven. Started by the Dutch company Philips. They wanted to improve living conditions for their employees. The plan for this "Company Town" is designed by Gerrit Jan de Jongh. It was all about togetherness and loyalty.

The park was the centre point of this town. All amenities were built around this and the streets lead to the central point. This symbolizes unit of living and working.

The old houses were small, but had everything they needed. Thus it provided central heating. The remains are still visible and it's a popular place to live there. It's a big part of the history of the city Eindhoven and the populair company "Philips".

For the design of our new community, this will be a good one to analyze. Show the good and the less good parts and decide what we could use for our design.
