Moving walls + open space

In collaboration with Rosie van Beuningen We noticed that our ideas: Moving walls (Rosie) and Open space (Cille) had overlap. We decided to work together and combine the two concepts and see how it would work out. It ended up in a fine scale model. We worked with different levels, materials, organic (movable) walls and objects within the space. In the stop motion below you can get an impression of the scale model and how the space would work.

Conclusion: It is nice to work with different levels within a space to create private ore separated spaces. At the other hand it could function as shadow spot ore it could protect people from the rain. For the moving walls you need to have several options. Walls with infinite grid does not work. In the open structure it is good to think of the weather conditions, functions, materials and light. If you want to adept a sport in your open space, you need to be aware of what kind of sport it is and keep in mind that it could be hindering for other people if it is not shielded from the rest.
